This cabin is more expensive than anything on Tauck, but if you're a luxury lover who wants to take an itinerary only operated by Viking and not an upscale line, it might be a good substitute. Tuesday was our first full day with Tauck w/a choice of excursions - a walking Chocolate tour of Bern OR a trip to the Alps/Jungfraujoch (I'd say probably 85% of us went to the ALPS). It was a bus ride, several train rides, a funicular, and gondolas to get there - all w/gorgeous scenery. We had a tour and then about 1.5 hrs of free time after - this was a highlight for us all.
River Cruising Aboard Our Fleet
The Fitness Center is complimentary and includes a limited variety of fitness equipment such as treadmills, stationary cycling machines and free weights. Massages are available for a fee in a private room off of the Fitness Center. The water on board the ship is potable and complimentary bottled water is placed in your cabin each day. Because you will be cruising on a river and not on the open sea, you are never far from land and, therefore, there is no doctor onboard the riverboat. In case of emergency, we can easily dock the boat and call for an ambulance or medical assistance. Most new river cruise ships in Europe are a standard 443 feet, and carry closer to 190 passengers.
Lounges and restaurants feel less crowded, the cruise director is more available and shore excursions have smaller groups. The boats are all relatively new, and can accommodate up to 190 passengers.
